“I Don’t Know”

There’s a fear that starts at creation
a single thought that ignites frustration
a phrase seldom heard throughout the nation,
“I don’t know.”

It’s humbling, to say the least
to admit this perceived defeat
so we placate our own conceit,
“I know.”

We must have an opinion
on each hot-button issue per season
and you must provide good reason,
“I know.”

But there’s no shame in admitting
a piece of the puzzle isn’t quite fitting
knowledge can be found in acknowledging,
“I don’t know.”
